London tourist

After Oxford, we spent the next couple of days doing touristy things in London, like this:

Visited the grave of Dickens here in Westminster Abbey; spent half a day in there and saw a fraction of what it holds.
The Tower of London is another place that can't be seen properly in just a few hours.
This fellow was great; ran away from home at 15 to join the army, left after 25 years and has been a yeoman of the guard at the tower for the past 22 years. There are 150 men and women who work and live within the tower; it is a little village unto itself.
Late afternoon it started to get dark and cold and stormy so we hurried across Tower Bridge to Southwark but the place we wanted to see was closed so we hurried across the Millennium Bridge to Fleet Street.
Soaked to the skin and chilled to the bone we sought refuge and food at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, but it was too hot and smoky inside so we settled for a really good sandwich shop around the corner.

Bath (the village) tomorrow.

Yeah, I could use a little Kew Gardens about now. Enjoy the moment!
