Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese

I couldn't wait to get there before posting so let me show you one of the first places I plan to visit: Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese.  This Fleet Street pub was built in 1538 and rebuilt on the same site in 1667 after the Great Fire.  It is right around the corner from Dr. Samuel Johnson's home and he was one of their regular customers, as were Dickens, Goldsmith, Doyle.....On his visits to London, Mark Twain would establish himself here and entertain his British fans.  Dickens refers to it in A Tale of Two Cities and the pub has preserved his favorite table and chair.  Sounds like my kinda joint, huh?  So look for a picture of me seated by the fire, at Dickens' table, enjoying a lunch of cheese, bread and a pint of the landlord's best bitter in a few weeks.
